Why do people hide their profile on here? I've seen a few members whose profile is hidden...I'm guess that is for the person that doesn't want to be contacted unless they contact you first? Do they have the option of "revealing" their profile to you? Sorry for all these newbie questions!

No need to feel embarrassed about someone knowing you checked out their profile. People check out other people's profiles for all kinds of reasons, not simply to see if they might be a match. Many of us do so to see who and what we can find out about someone who just posted an interesting comment on the blogs. More often than not, in fact, someone checking out your profile, or you--if you're on the blogs regularly--is just for that reason alone. Who and what is this person who just said such and such? Have a lovely evening--and stop worrying.

Curious, if people can't tell when you view another's profile when you're anonymous, then maybe I should change mine to anonymous. :D I'll admit, I'm feeling a bit odd about signing up on this type of site and I almost feel embarrased knowing someone knows I checked out their profile, LOL. Lame, isn't it? It's been a really long time since I've been "connected" online. I remember the good old days of hearing Mr. AOL say "You've got mail." and the chat rooms when people actually could have a halfway decent conversation. But I digress...

Hi, Chandab. People do have the option of revealing profiles they've previously hidden. Why they hide their profiles in the first place--there are probably as many reasons as there are people hiding their profiles. One might be being able to continue blogging without revealing who is doing the blogging [though I don't get why anyone would do that, but some surely have their reasons]. Another might be--and I'm just guessing because I've never hidden my profile--that when you hide your profile and go searching, the folks whose profiles you look at won't be able to tell that it was you who looked at their profile. But, I'm not sure that's actually the case. That's the best answer I have, I'm afraid. All in all, I wouldn't worry about it. MM is a very peculiar, albeit intriguing, site indeed. Those of us, like me, who are no longer bothering to search or answer emails or winks, are still here for the blogs because, on and off, they become quite interesting.
