MM Movie fans,

Can you believe it's already May? Many new flicks will be coming out soon, such as Iron Man that hits the box offices this Friday, Mudd with Mathew McConaughey, and Star Trek into Darkness on May 17th.

Please share with us what movie(s) you've seen recently and what you thought about it/them.

I watched Les Miserables for the first time on DVD last night. I resisted seeing it on the big screen because I don't normally get excited about musicals or operas. This one I wish I had seen in the theatre. It was fantastic, but a little hard to understand at times since they were singing the story. I read the book in the mid 1970s and enjoyed it during my "historical book" period.

It was very well done--acting, costumes, art direction. I still can't believe Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, and Ann Hattaway can sing and perform like that. Amazing performances by all, even the children.

BeWell reporting in and anxious to hear about your experiences with your movies of choice............ ;-D

Watched the old 1982 movie, Gandhi last night with Ben Kingsly who played Gandhi. Hadn't seen it since it was first out. Remarkable film. I can see where our global society is headed for revolution in the not too distant future if the human condition continues to be challenged and we continue to have low wages, scarce jobs, high prices, poor quality food, and insane laws and regulations which distinguishes freedom as we've known it.

I especially loved one of the quotes from the movie: Nonviolence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of distruction devised by the ingenuity of man--Mahatma Gandhi.

Martin Sheen and Candice Bergen were also in the film. Kind of funny to see them in their 30s...... BeWell

Quoting Diana3316:

Went to see The Great Gatsby on Mother's Day.  I thought it was 'great'!  Of course like many, I read the book in highschool, but had forgotten how it ended.  Additionally, back in highschool I don't think I understood the underlying message of the American working class sense of HOPE.

And might I add....Leonardo was just divine!!!!  :))))

Hi Diana,

I read the book too in high school and loved the movie with Robert Redford. I heard it is a lot different, but still gets the same point across. I hope to see it soon. Leonardo is Robert Redford's protege, which I find interesting as well. Good to hear you enjoyed it...... BeWell

Quoting MissMonteCarlo:

I watched the theatre production of Les Miserables on DVD.  I don't think the film is out here for another week or two on DVD. An amazing production. I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster. Tissues at the ready next time.

I managed to watch Life of Pi this weekend. I never got the chance to read the book as I've been too busy. Great film! Although think it has been hyped to be a better film than it was.

MissMonteCarlo,

I haven't seen the theatre production of Les Mis, so I'm going to have to see if I can find it and see how close it is to the movie version. Good to hear it too was an amazing production. I'll be sure to have my box of tissues in my lap. ;-D

Life of Pi was good too. I have not read the book either. I think the hype is more from those who can appreciate the technical complexity behind the making of the movie. That's what really made it for me--all the special effects and the great art direction and cinematography. Maybe the story itself in the book is better.

Thanks for sharing.......... BeWell

Cant wait for Ironman....I am a huge fan of the Avengers!!!  I was not feeling very  well last weekend so I stayed in and rested.  Going through my movie collections I came across the entire Lonesome Dove series (Commanche Moon, Lovesome Dove and Return to Lonesome Dove).  I watched the entire series in a weekend......I forgot what a wonderful love story it was.  They just dont make good westerns anymore.  Highly recommend watching this.

As for IRONMAN....I am there tomorrow!!!!

Hello bepositive,

Yeah! Another superhero movie fan! Yes, I loved the Avengers too and XMen movies. It rained about 4 inches here over the weekend and I didn't feel like getting out and going to the movies. How was Ironman3? It must have been pretty good since it made over $176 Million over the weekend. I plan to see it soon.

Lonesome Dove series was great. I remember watching the series when it first hit TV. I love good Westerns too.

Thanks for posting!.......... BeWell
