There are so many scammers on dating sites that you meed to take precautions.   Many are now in chat rooms so it is spreading.

1)  It is okay to chat just don't give anyone personal information until you or MM has verified who he is.

2) Scammers will ask you to set up a yahoo.com account and once you talk to them at yahoo they can hack you and get personal information from your computer.

3) NEVER and I mean NEVER sent a man money.  No true gentleman would ever ask you for money.

4) Most scammers profiles are fake (usually only have one photo).  The information is well written but once you get emails or chat with them their English sucks.

5)  Most scammers say they work abroad in the gem or engineer trade or minning trade.  I have also had some say they are servicemen in Iraq (talk about sleazy).

6) Don't give them your full name, account numbers, email address, home address and certainly NOT your phone number.  They will pester you!!   There are many wonderful men on this site and most have more than 1 photo and they will never ask you to talk on Yahoo or another site.  BE CAREFUL AND BE SAFE.  When in doubt report your concern to the support staff.  They do a great job of investigating.

Good Luck in life and in love.

Attention: Genuine Individauls......

Very much worth reading. Just taking a few moments to read the author’s guidelines can make you somewhat more aware and potentially keep you from undesirable results.

Nice commentary for new members. This forum is full of those seeking answers, but I honestly think you just should go along with individual preferences regarding physical and age stats, and have fun! I plan to become a paid member, but wanted to 'test the waters' first. I looked at the number of women who make comments on successful results with paid memberships and it seemed to be very low, however; I am deciding to take a leap of faith!

I think your commen sense will tell you when it is safe.  I would never give out my number unless I have emailed or chatted with a man for some time.  If he truly wants to talk to me I ask for his number and block my number when I call (*67...I think).  Only after we meet (in person) do I decide to give him my number.  This is just my opinion though.

At what point would one feel it is safe to give a phone number?

the truth that in these times pretty little care must be taken with everyone, I took my money from my account and I'm not rich or anything, I have only sell coins and bulldozers. Conyers commented on what a fool I did it a thousand times but life is so, is good for everyone being silly and laugh at yourself, mature with age

GONZO: I leave a few coins and cataloging for you enjoy some history, I am a fan as I love these coins, in addition to what can be known of each front by sun. good a hug to all

Hey, Pat,

I just saw your comment.     Now, you want me tell some of the dumb things I'VE done?   Wow, that would take all day.

I've done some brave dumb things in wilderness situations, that I should not have survived.

When I was young I drove drunk.....as stupid a thing as is possible to do.    I thank God every day he didn't see fit to end my stupid life one of those nights, and still shake when I think of the damage I could have done to others' lives.

Let's see...... Also when young, I let a marriage end because neither of us knew they required work....and no other really good reason.

Up until a couple of years ago, I mostly believed the old saying, "You can't really lose money on land." Ha. :):)

Besides that, I'd say I wasn't paying attention when the right woman came along......but we really don't know where the path not taken would have led, do we?   But, statistically, if I had to bet I'd say I made that mistake more than a dozen times.   (After all, I'm pretty old, you know.):):)

I apologize for the hi-jack of the original theme.    And I'm sure there are dozens more dumb things I've done......Maybe you should start a blog "What's the dumbest thing you've ever done?"

~All~ I met a woman here on the site a couple of months ago...within three weeks we were making all sorts of plans to meet. Then at around 6 weeks into chatting etc, she wanted me to buy her a pair of Alexander McQueen high heels, witha skull on the toe...$1375 for the pair!...They were hard to find, I tried, I called all over the country...sold out...then she got pissed because I did not act on it fast enough.
What do you call someone like that?

Should have found out if that was the price for sex.If it was you might have gotten it for a pair of tennis shoes. If she quips about it you've already established the job,the rest is just negotiations.

Just a thought :]

Aww voyager, if someone ever asks you for expensive gifts like that especially at an early stage she is just there to take advantage of you. Avoid those gold diggers. People who really care will never ask you for anything.

I agree with Pat. Duh.

Good thing I never did anything stupid in MY life. :):):)

Oh, CG, pull-eeese. [As if I had to preface my remarks with that note] You never did anything stupid in your life?

I believe that about as much as I believe in Santa Claus. And I haven't believed in him since I was 5 years old.

You are far too savvy, far too smart, far to sophisticated to have never done anything stupid in your life.

INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS!!!!! I bet at least one of those dumb moves was a doozie and a half. I hope you'll think of one [preferably one that wasn't felonious] that you can share with us. I'm sure you'll have all of us ROFLourAO.

Currently I am ROFLMAO for sure.

Smart post, Bepositive. We all need such reminders as you've put up. And certainly all our newbies need to read this. When you're new to internet dating, it's a bit like being the new kid in the neighborhood going to kindergarten while everybody else on your block is in in least 6th grade. You're surely destined to get scammed/zapped/bullied/fooled by one of those kids who live so close to you--so close to you you automatically think you can trust him/her--but you can't!

Be safe, everyone. Exercise ALL caution indeed.

Never noticed this critter on here. But if he's suddenly gone, keep checking Britt's [MM Counselor] Scammers blog. Ten to one he'll turn up there sooner or later.

Hope this Year brings all of you happiness and good health.  Be true to yourself, on this site, but continue to stay alert.  The support staff on MM has been great and quick to remove unwanted scum of the earth.  Sometimes the sublte things gives you a clue to a scammer such as his/her profile info does not match the photo.  Profile says they have brown hair when photo clearly shows gray.   All the ones I have  talked to are Engineers  with  a 4 year degree but their English sucks.  Quite comical actually!!

I have found some of the photos they use on romancescam.com.......interesting site and some horrific stories.  Some of the stories will scare the crap out of you so remember  DO NOT GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION (especially your email, name or phone number).

Happy New Year fellow HONEST MM members.  PEACE!!!

Voyager, I'm surprised at you. You actually went looking for these disgustingly expensive shoes? Bad, bad indeed. This woman must have looked amazing--or written amazing words to you--to make you do that.

What do I call a woman who could do this to you?

E-V-I-L. One simple word, Voyager. EVIL. Thank your lucky stars that she got pissed and abandoned you.

Please, please, please, on here you MUST think with the head that sits on top of your shoulders, not the other one. If any woman, ever, no matter how terrific she seems at the outset, starts asking you for money, or asking you to spend money on her, before you even know what she used to eat for breakfast when she was in the fifth grade--dump her faster than you'd flush your toilet after depositing a dump in there!!!

BE SMART, VOYAGER. Be very smart indeed.

Oh--and did I say what I would call a woman like this? I did. Evil. That's the bottom line. The other lines include phrases like golddigger, cheater, immoral a**hole, ugly b***h, cruel c**t, dirty b***h, etc., etc.

I could go on, but I'd get expelled from blogland if I did.

YOU DON'T BUY A STRANGER A PAIR OF $1375 SHOES UNLESS YOU'RE ALREADY MARRIED TO HER AND YOU'RE A MULTIMILLIONAIRE OR SHE'S A MULTIMILLIONAIRE AND YOU ARE UNEQUIVOCALY DESTINED TO INHERIT HER FORUNE WHEN SHE DIES. PERIOD.

Happy New Year, my friend. My its onset bless you with grand, infinite wisdom regarding women. And may you find the love you're looking for without having to go through any more ugly miseries.

Pat

I would call her a golddigger and a woman that has no integrity.  She may also have been a scammer but instead of asking for money she wants things for herself.  Be grateful you did not hook up with this unclassy woman,Voyager.

I agree I have been on another site for a while and was hit up by two scammers I reported them to authorities as well when they sent requests for money. Once you get their e-mail if they ask you to yahoo you can trace the header and find they are in Nigeria mostly. I am sure Aslaska ia beautiful right now. Our daughter lived there for 7 years and she goes back every year to visit. I had the opportunity to be there 3 x It was awesome. thanks for reply

Thanks for info but I think the site should not only post scammers but profiles they have banned for other reasons such as sex talk do you agree? And perhaps put them on a list vs 62 pages we have to go through. Have you had successnon this site?

RHNDABABY,Hi.Lets hope Britt [our MM counselor] will leave this up so you can read this.Scammers are on ALL sites, not just here. Those 62 pages are what Britt has caught in about 6 weeks now. You seem new with only 4 post so a really good place for you to look [Romance] for learning the [Scam] who, what, when, where, and why's [dot] of whats out here in cyber world [Com] is on the internet search.

You can click on anyones post under their name and read what they have blogged. The ladies will have insites I think you'll enjoy,Pat has extra sharp insite. Please take the time to learn from that site.Last year I saved a friend several thousand dollars because of that site, just in the nick of time.

Good Luck
