My thoughts about Whitney Houston,

Whitney Houston was the first female voice to attract the world’s attention in a magnitude equal to Michael Jackson. She made the way for Beyoncé, Celine Dione, Rhianna, and the material girl Madonna.

The glory of God radiated through her face from her soul. Her smile was warm and inviting. She possessed an incredible musical talent with so much power and charisma that, in my opinion could only be born once in a century.

Very much like Michael Jackson, and Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston had great start into a successful life. What we often don’t realize, just looking at the finished products of their work is the overwhelming stress they endured on and off during their musical careers.

Every one of us, no matter what status of life we are in, poor or rich, is the searching for love and trust. That’s something money can’t buy.

When Whitney Houston entered into marriage with Bobby Brown, we all had our opinions about the relationship. I suppose we all wanted to protect Whitney. As painful as it was to watch, we as her peers, did not have the right to judge her or Bobby Brown. We only knew them through the media. We did not know the deepest intentions and motives of their hearts.

When Whitney started her career she never planned to fall into drugs, pills or alcohol. No one plans to do that. As time went by she lost her smile, she lost her voice and the world looked on criticizing but didn’t offer to help.

That’s a big problem today in our society, people are never satisfied. What happened to our love for Whitney when she needed it most? To just sit by idly and criticize someone you loved, and then let them fall by the wayside is not acceptable. Apathy is a problem we can all do without. A real friend will stay and intervene when all other “friends” will leave.

It’s unbelievably disrespectful, in my opinion, when after Whitney died the press and media as well as many others called her a drug queen and forgot what she really did accomplish before she was beset with problems. How did our society come to feed on bad things, when all the good that was accomplished is far more interesting and powerful? Let’s remember the good about Whitney and celebrate her memory rather than tarnish it with what she suffered through.

My private and special dream was always to sing a duet with her. Most of us can’t imagine how hard it is for her family and especially for her daughter Bobbi Kristina. Let’s pray for them. Whitney is now in a better world and is just possibly recording a new song together with Elvis and Michael.

I will never forget her and neither will you. I’m blessed to have very close friends here in LA, that knew her very well and because of that I can say, she was a beautiful and wonderful person. Remember how her voice made you smile, feel good and dance.

Bless her for those things and give thanks to God for the talent He blessed her with.

Stop criticizing her and others who are suffering with similar addictions such as drugs or alcohol. If you are going to be so bold as to comment on their situation, then be so bold as to pray for them and try to help them overcome. Let’s take a lesson from Whitney’s death and step up to the plate and fight for the people we love and care about. If you can’t help personally, find help for them and don’t give up

Thank you for writing this about her. She will be missed. I love her music and I loved to see her perform. I use to write her on myspace all the time. Encouraging her to pull through all the mess in her life. Life is so short.

where is my prince...

Awesome~
You seem to be a very kind and compassionate man. We will never forget what a national treasure Whitney Houston was, not only because of her extraordinary talent….but also because of the many charitable causes she supported. There were many! I don't know why anyone would want to disrespect the dead. RIP Whitney.

Perhaps at another time....when I don't feel so profoundly sad about this event....I will bring up the topic of prescription drug addiction in this country and the constant hawking of sleep, anti-depressant and pain pills by the pharmaceutical companies. Combined with alcohol, these 'legal' and highly addictive drugs are deadly.

It is very sad.

But in my opinion..She was a very selfish person...she had a child that loved her with everything but she still chose to live the way she did. I understand her demons, but she had a child that needed her to keep straight.

Give her credit for her great accomplishments but at the same time we have to see her flaws in order for history to not repeat itself. Sometimes we give to much respect.

I feel so sorry for her daughter, my heart goes out to her.

The media is always harsh on the famous. I think the lifestyle and pressure placed upon these celebs is often too much. I think they often feel pressured in living up to this false persona created by the media. Hollywood is almost portrayed like the land of the gods.

Yet the reality is they are just normal human beings like you and I. They have talents that's have been recognised, that we admire which has led to their success.

I always wonder though if there was more that family and friends could have done to help and support her. Who was there to stop her taking these drugs? Who was there when she was in such a state? I always wonder if more could have been done to prevent such a tragedy.

However, what's done is done. Its too late now. All we can do is remember her for the talented lady she was. Such an incredible voice. I hope her daughter will be ok. It is going to be a tough time for her.

I have not heard the negativity myself CHANEL.. / AWESOME... That is very sad.. She had beauty surrounding her and yet in the end... UGLY took her..

I certainly do not consider any of "US" her peers.. as the author mentioned.. But more the music industry, etc.. WE DO NOT RESIDE IN SAME REALMS.. HOWEVER.. I too agree that if ones are speaking poorly of her, this is not what LOVE, ACCEPTANCE and FORGIVENESS is all about.

She WAS aware she held "issues" and was as open as she could be about it.. in her sober moments.. I can't deny.. There is a place in my heart, as I have adored her for years myself.. where I felt "It was Bobby.. He was the demon!! He started her on this stuff and drug her down!!" BUT.. Ultimately, we must take responsibility for ourselves.. However her death does not give warrant to ones being mean regarding her and her life.. I have not heard this.. I have only heard she was a beautiful person inside and out, will be severely missed in the music industry and that drugs overcame her.. That is nothing but stating the truth.

I hope the ones being so cruel about her now never have to endure the pain her daughter and all her loved ones are enduring now! And I bet she would feel the same way as well!

I was so taken back at the lack of response by her peers on Monday.  When her name was mentioned the applaud was faint, at best.  I think people choose to remember the worse parts of her turbulant life.  Failing to see God gave her a gift she shared with us for decades.  Musice we related to over and over again.
Everyone has challenges in life.  She fought a big fight.  Tried her best and gave her ALL!
She will forever be "The Queen Of Flair" in my eyes!

I have not heard of anyone calling WHITNEY a "Drug Queen"....
But to say she was overcome with drugs is no understatement...

I sympathize with her family, friends and loved ones and regret she will no longer be around to continue to bring us the beautiful music she shared. She did indeed appear by all rights to be a "Beautiful Soul Lost in a Very Bad Mess."

REALTY IS: SHE WAS OVERCOME BY A DEMON AND COULD NOT PULL HERSELF FROM THE MIRE..

In so far as BOBBY... If the shoe fits.. wear it! I don't need to sit down to dinner with him to know an abusive, drugging man.. Nor do I need to know what the "Power Of Love" can do to an individual to continually "forgive" them. They BOTH had issues and ran with their demons... and Ms. Houston has paid with her life.

AT THE END OF THE DAY.. What we MUST do is start accepting responsibility for our own actions and quit making excuses for others (or our own) poor behavior. Whitney knew right from wrong and no doubt knew she was driving down a bad path. She chose to allow it to succumb her.. Sad as it is.. Only SHE is responsible for her death! And I also hold no doubt there were MANY people who tried to help her. I am just sad to see .. in the end.. SHE LOST!!! And especially sad for her daughter.

It amazes me to see a woman so strikingly beautiful in the face who held such beauty and grace in her voice..... lead her way to DEATH in such an UGLY manner.. We all fight our demons... I just hope this makes us more aware that the battle begins IN US! AND ONLY WE CAN MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS TO SECURE OUR FUTURE..

WHITNEY WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHITNEY AS WE ALL ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OURSELVES..

Note: Madonna had #1 album and hits before Ms. Houston... There are certain "calibers" of talent.. and Madonna's voice is not comparable to Whitney. Whit was in range of Celine.. Madonna was a better marketer.. and apparently better at staying off drugs.. "SEX" appears to be more her demon..
