Zombiland & Motorola

Had to pass along a big, GO SEE IT!!!! For Zombieland, had to go see it many times this weekend for a marketing company that I do side jobs for. Thought that I was going to hate having to see the film repeatedly. I'm happy to report that it's definitely worth seeing. The beginning is a bit graphic and gruesome...but hey, it's about Zombie's so you have to expect that. Woody Harrelson was wonderful as were the other members of the cast.
The other tid bit I'd like to share is how horrible Motorola products are!!! I had two Razors, one was mine, the other belonged to my 13 year old son. Both of these phones died within a month of each other just after the 12 month warranty expired. Great timing. So I waited until we could get new phones from Verizon. That was the end of August. The new phones arrived about a month ago. We were told how much better the Motorola Rivals were by the Verizon salesperson. Mine is still functioning. But my son's died 3 weeks after we received it. We were sent a "like-new" replacement. That one lasted two days. Phone #3 should be arriving today. Really burns me that I purchased a NEW phone and after only 3 weeks of usage, Verizon won't send a NEW phone but a "like-new" phone!!!
So, if you have the opportunity to purchase a Motorola phone...DON'T!!!! If you have the time to see Zombieland...DO!!!

Is there really a perfect match?

Does each person who draws breath have a perfect match? When do you stop looking for perfection? I feel sometimes like I'm just being too picky and at other times that I'm simply being brutally honest. There are things that each of the men I've dated lately did that I absolutely couldn't stand. Not that these were all big things, some were just stupid things that shouldn't have bothered me, but they did. Weird stuff that bugged me and I know that I couldn't live with for any long period of time...like more than a few months. Forget years, years are not even a remote possibility. Now granted, I haven't really dated many men here ...what is it they say about dating in Aspen? The odds are good but the goods are odd. No truer words... That actually sounded harsher than it was intended but if you lived here, you'd know the expression and could appreciate it's sincerity.
At what age do you give up your idea of a perfect relationship and begin to start accepting things that used to be deal breakers? Like baldness...if you ruled out bald guys in Aspen, half of the dating pool (of a certain age) would disappear. It seems like height becomes more flexible after a divorce. We married taller men and that didn't work out so well so perhaps broadening our horizons might not be such a bad idea. There are traits that we can live with but do wear us out. I dated one fellow that I dearly love as a friend but he treats each day like it was a triathlon. He physically wore me out. I tried my damnedest to keep up so I did get in pretty good shape during that relationship. As it turns out, he was madly in love with a woman who could keep up and I had my heart broken when I discovered that. However, there are things about him that I love and things that I know I just could not live with. It does make me wonder though whether there will ever be a relationship that could possibly live up to my expectations? Am I alone in this thought? Are our expectations sabotaging our potential relationships?
I still hold on to the belief that I will one day meet the man that will actually exceed my expectations. Though, lately the bar is set pretty low...(hey I'm 50 ok?) I'm tired of being alone. I do wonder if I'm giving up what could turn into the perfect relationship...given time. We tend to make snap judgments without giving people enough time. Ok, there are times where you just plain know that there is not even the slightest chance in the world that you could stand to be in any kind of a relationship with a particular person. But I do believe that each of us has given up a few good possibilities, if only we'd given them just a little more time, had our minds and hearts a tiny bit more open. Just maybe?...

Get outside!

I don't know where you are or why you might be inside on such a gorgeous day. We were given a great gift here in Aspen..sun! After the snow earlier in the week, it's a treasure to wake up to warm sunshine on both weekend days. Yesterday there was time for a quick 45 miler down to Carbondale. Today, I finished work early so I could take advantage of the sun and take a real ride, 65 miles down to Glenwood and back. Should be a great ride. If you can get outside...then do it! Never pass up the opportunity to get some exercise, good for the heart and soul.
If you missed Steve's Guitars, you really missed out! The comics were awesome! I got stuck following one of the best of the night so that added to my nerves. I did manage to get through most of my set, I probably forgot only a third of it. But I didn't pass out or go completely blank. I managed to make them laugh, so I consider my first shot at stand up more or less a success. It is a whole new experience to be on the stage rather than in the wings. I might even sum up the courage to try it again. Mark your calendars (if you're locals) our next show is at the Silvertree Hotel in Snowmass the Friday after Thanksgiving. Then we'll have shows twice a week for the rest of the ski season. We'll have one show at a Snowmass venue (stay tuned for details), and we'll have an Aspen location as well.
Time to take my own advice. Need to don some spandex and feel the wind through my helmet, and bugs in my teeth. Ok, the bugs I could actually do without.

Ah, you can tell the first day of fall has arrived..with it came the first snowfall. Not much stuck at the lower elevations, but there is enough on the pass to see from the intercept lot. I know that means nothing to most people. But if you know anything at all about Aspen, then you know that everyone here is smiling like an idiot! The summer was great and the biking season did exactly what it was supposed to do...rehab the broken parts in preparation for the next ski season. 67 days until I get to click in and fly again!
If you are reading this and happen to live in the Roaring Fork Valley...come check out Steve's Guitars this Friday night, 8:15pm. I'm throwing caution to the wind and taking up the mic for my very first stand up gig. I only have to fill 3-5 minutes, so how bad could that be? It'll be interesting if nothing else!
