Feel free to complete this sentence; when I view the world that we live in, I see _______.

I would love to say peace, but that is no longer the case, when I view the world that we

live in, I see unrest and change!

"It would be an interesting spin off this blog to see which decade in the nineteenth century is favored the most."

Don't you think that the answers would be across the board based on age and if a person's life experience during a certain decade was positive or negative?  I'm not sure we would learn much, but it would be interesting. Thank ya, Thank ya very much. Elvis has left the building.

Yep, it would be when I was 22.  The world may have been going to **** in a hand basket, but I was doing fine.

I enjoy listening or dancing to Elvis but if you think about the era in which he did his music the world was in great duress. I hear some people refer to the sixties as a great era to live in (and they are entitled to their own opinion). I think it was great for a privillaged few. Although, a lot of good change did come from the sixties so I guess it depends on how you look at it. When I view the world we live in, like you I hope for peace in this lifetime (...Dreaming Big) but I see the long treacherous journey we all have to get there.

It would be an intersting spin off this blog to see which decade in the nineteenth century is favored the most.

It would be an intersting spin off this blog to see which decade in the twentieth century is favored the most.

"the world a mess."

The world has always been a mess.  Sometimes it gets better for a time and then it gets worse.

Despite all our hand wringing and complaining, it has been lots worse than now.  Perhaps for a time better.

Sometimes our fixes only make things a lot worse.  Sometimes, despite their apparent stupidity, they honestly do make things better.  You only have to read a detailed history of our country to find examples.

Likewise a detailed history of the world.

Quoting lostinthe70s:

when I view the world that we live in, I see a demoralizing society.

Narcissism, Porn, violence on TV, people doped up on pills and drugs because they feel they have to be perceived as "perfect."

It's a sad state of affairs.

I live in my own Zen bubble and try hard to stay optimistic.

I agree, it's not a Elvis shaking his hips world any more.  Add Greed to that list.
